Digital Warfare 101: Intro to Digital Warfare
Posted by: admin | Posted on: November 11th, 2011 | 0 Comments
Hello my fellow digital ninja(s)!
In my Digital Warfare 101 Series, I will be discussing topics ranging from IT security fundamentals to advanced SEO/SEM topics including brand protection strategies. I must warn you, while this series will cover all the basics, Digital Warfare 101 topics were not designed with the n00b in mind.
As a digital strategist, I get asked the same question several times, every day, by several people. As any other digital strategist can attest, this seemingly simplistic question can often times lead into a two hour conversation covering the entire history of the internet itself.
The question? “What the hell does a digital strategist DO?” Alternatively, the more HR friendly way of asking this is “Huh?”- followed by a blank stare after you tell the person your job title.
Digital strategists are just that… strategists specializing in digital matters. Whether your forte is online marketing (digital marketing strategist), online reputation management (digital brand strategist), or IT security (digital security strategist), the moment you step back from the micro-level and begin planning, developing, and executing initiatives for the macro-long-term level, you’ve officially put on your “strategerizing” hat.
So after answering the question a few hundred times- and after months of procrastination, I’ve finally decided to begin working on a collection of digital strategy whitepapers that should not only help answer any questions that fellow business colleagues and friends might have, but also engage and inform fellow online marketing ninjas with the latest digital trends and strategy tips. Together, we’ll travel through the universes of SEO, SEM, ORM, Social Media, as well as other specialty topics as requested by readers and social media followers.
In the next issue of Digital Warfare 101, we’ll dive in right away with the basics of my favorite area, Search Engine Optimization (SEO)!
Stay tuned!
